FOCUS On Carushka, written by Greta Blackburn. This article provides a summary of her career from “the striped cotton boatneck leotard” to designing the entire wardrobe for Saturday Night Fever’s sequel Staying Alive. Carushka explains her next goal is to build up her mail order business so she can “become closer to her customers.” With inspirational quotes, photos and testimonials of real world customers printed in the pages of her catalogs she predicted the role that social media would soon play. In 1995, Carushka was one of the first to launch e-commerce. Her desire to connect to her customers made her a trailblazer in branding and marketing still used to this day.
